“Writers block” don’t exist. You’re just trying too hard to be perfect.

Most of my life I’ve had this illusion about me having to be inspired to be able to write. I’ve been frustrated because I’ve had writers block. No matter how hard I’ve tried, not a single idea have come to paper.

It always was an illusion. There is no such thing as a writing block. It’s just fear of creating something that is not good enough. What really stops us is the wish of being perfect immediately. Or even being perfect at all.

Perfection is the problem. Things don’t have to be perfect at first. It can be fixed later. After I realized this, I’ve never had a writers block. At the same time it is a myth, a creative block is also a choice.

I choose not to be afraid of imperfection.

99% of my writing and ideas are crap. Minimum. But I produce. I get things done. Every now and then a good idea comes along, a good sentence or even a solution. That’s how the process works.

My advice to you?

If you have a bad day, try to write 100 bad ideas. Along the way you’ll have some good. Suddenly you might find a rough, unpolished diamond in the mess.

That will make it worth it.
